91³ÉÈ˶¶Òô¶ÌÊÓƵGuest Artist Series
The University of Louisiana at Monroe
opens its Guest Artist Series in 2005 with John and Julie Cheek,
duo pianists. They will be presenting a concert on the two Fazioli
pianos in Emy Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall, January 20 at 7:30
p.m. The brother and sister duo often play together as well as
separately on Fazioli pianos. Dr. Julie Cheek presented a recital
on the 500th Fazioli piano that was broadcast on "Performance
Today" over National Public Radio. Their program is another
in a series of concerts featuring the 91³ÉÈ˶¶Òô¶ÌÊÓƵFazioli pianos which
has featured Dr. Gregory Pepetone and Dr. Richard Seiler in solo
recitals last September.
In October 91³ÉÈ˶¶Òô¶ÌÊÓƵfaculty members Deborah
Guillory, Richard Seiler, and Coralee White presented a recital
as part of the Louisiana Music Teacher's State Convention hosted
by the Division of Music at ULM. In November the 91³ÉÈ˶¶Òô¶ÌÊÓƵkeyboard
faculty with 91³ÉÈ˶¶Òô¶ÌÊÓƵpercussionists, Larry Anderson and Mel Mobley
performed the "Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion"
by Bela Bartok. On March 20 a recital by pianist Lisa Whithers
will again feature the Fazioli piano. Tickets for the Guest Artist
Concert Series are $10 and can be purchased at the door or by
calling 342-3811.
